The LA Times is eating crow today as it has had to issue a public apology to P. Diddy for the story they printed that connect Diddy to the Tupac Shakur murder in 1994. “The bottom line is that the documents we relied on should not have been used,” Editor Russ Stanton said in a story posted Wednesday night on the newspaper’s Web site. “We apologize both to our readers and to those referenced in the documents … and in the story.” This all started when popular website The Smoking Gun stated that documents used for the story where fakes. This then lead to a deeper investigation which concluded that the documents where indeed false and penned by a prison image.
