Danny Glover has been hard at work trying to get a biopic produce based on the life of Haitian independence hero Toussaint-Louverture. But the doors from Hollywood have been slammed in his face as movie executives stated “where are the white heroes?” Even though Will Smith and a slew of other African-American acts rake in more movie dollars then any other actors, Hollywood producers would rather cast Angleina Jolie first for a movie then cast Halle Berry or Angelina Bassett. “The first question you get, is ‘Is it a black film?’ All of them agree, it’s not going to do good in Europe, it’s not going to do good in Japan,” said Glover in an interview. “Somebody has to prove that to be a lie!”
Glover was able to get $13 mil. from an independent fund base out of Venezuela. Filming will start early 2009 and will star Don Cheadel, Mos Def, Wesley Snipes, and Angela Bassett.
