I’m a BIG lover of the Food Network. I watch it all the time and I really love Cooking with the Nelley’s. Last night was the season finale of their annual Food Network Star search. They take the best cooks from around the US and make them compete for their own show on the station. The one winner that really stuck to the Food Network was Guy Fieri who host Guy’s Big Bite and Diners, Drive In’s, and Dives.
Well last night the Food Network crowned its first African-American winner, Aaron McCargo, Jr. He was the Executive Catering Chef for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and is married with 3 kids. His new show, Big Daddy’s House, will start airing on Sundays sometime soon. The show will focus on family style cooking.
I think someone stuck a bug in the Food Networks ear and told them that Black people like to watch the Food Network. Cause now we have 3 African-American (Cooking with the Nelley’s, Sunny Anderson, and now Big Daddy’s House) cooking shows on the network.
