As far as tips for a job search, I recommend my students network as much as possible. I have always told them to do so, but now it’s more important than ever before. Companies are still hiring, but they can be more picky because there are more qualified people applying for jobs than there were before the economic downturn. The best way to get “in” with your target company is to meet people who work there – at all levels within the organization.
Also important is having an online presence for your job search. This includes using social networks such as LinkedIn and Facebook, as well as other tools like Twitter and blogs. Every job seeker should have an online version of their resume with a sample of their work.
