In light of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s elaborate engagement Monday night, I wanted to get to you first with some interesting statistics from David’s Bridal’s “What’s On Brides’ Minds Survey” all about engagements and the rise of the Groomzilla (will Kanye be one?!).
Even though magnanimous gestures seem very romantic, particularly when you are playing your life out in public like Kim and Kayne, most people would relish in a more private moment. Data indicates that in reality, low key proposals are the way to go!
o 80% of brides would scoff at a Facebook proposal
o 63% wouldn’t say yes to a Jumbotron
o 57% would say no to the popular flash mob proposal
We adore Kim’s 15 carat stunner, but do all brides agree?
o More than half of brides (57%) would change something about their engagement ring if they could, with the biggest gripe being wanting a bigger stone (19%). Despite this, only 36%actually would go through with upgrading!
Kanye proposed to Kim in an elaborate way, do other brides spin their tale to seem just as fabulous?
o Nearly a third of newlyweds actually embellish their engagement story to make it sound better.
We all know Kanye will DEFINITELY be a hands-on groom!
o 83 percent of grooms are actively involved in making wedding-day decisions.
What could push Kanye into Groomzilla territory?
31 percent of brides report that the biggest trigger is the guest list.
24 percent of newlywed women say music selection pushes their man’s buttons.
16 percent of brides-to-be pinpoint honeymoon plans as the ultimate set-off for their groom.
Is it going to be KIM’S day or KANYE’S?
o 67% of brides report that there is at least 1 thing that would turn their grooms into a Groomzilla.
